Mediation Attorney for Worcester, Shrewsbury, Holden, Westborough, Auburn, West Boylston, MA and the Surrounding Areas

Mediation can be a cost effective and time efficient way to resolve cases outside of the courtroom setting.

Mediation is an informal, voluntary process where a neutral third party, called a mediator, assists both parties in clarifying issues and negotiating solutions to those issues. Mediation can be a cost effective and time efficient way to resolve cases outside of the courtroom setting. Mediation can be used to resolve many disputes including:

  • Divorce
  • Alimony/Spousal Support
  • Division of Assets
  • Child Custody
  • Child Support
  • Modifications & Contempt
  • Grandparent Visitation

The Mediation Process

I tailor the mediation process to meet the needs of the parties. To begin, I offer a complimentary consultation with both parties to explain the process, potential costs, answer questions, and determine whether I am a good fit for your case. I bill a flat rate for mediation sessions and document preparation. The cost of mediation is usually shared by the parties.  Next, we exchange informational forms and schedule our first session. The mediation process typically occurs over several sessions. These sessions can be conducted in the privacy of my office or virtually, depending on the preference of the parties. The number of sessions and length of each session varies. Last, once an agreement has been reached, I will draft the necessary paperwork for filing with the appropriate court. The parties submit the paperwork and if required, attend a final court hearing for approval of the agreement before a judge. I understand that appearing in court by yourself even with an agreement can be stressful and scary. As an add on service and if requested by both parties, I will attend the final hearing with both parties to present the agreement for final approval.

Is Mediation Right for You?

Mediation is an excellent option for individuals who are willing to work collaboratively with a skilled mediator in negotiating issues with the goal of reaching an agreement for approval with the court. Not only is mediation usually less expensive and quicker than traditional court litigation, but mediation is also a way for both parties to maintain control over the process.

As a mediator, I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages productive communication between parties and straightforward solutions to complicated issues. If you are interested in learning more, please contact me today.
